Children and Seniors

All children under age 12 ride free with a fare paying adult. Fare paying adult includes senior citizen and reduced/CCT fare customers. Senior citizens ages 65 and older ride for free with a valid Senior Fare card.

Riders with Disabilities

Riders with disabilities are eligible to apply for half fare travel and two free transfers on SEPTA services with use of aReduced Fare card.

Transfers

Transfers occur when a rider takes a single one-way trip and then changes to a different line or service within two hours of that trip. There are three locations where customers may transfer services without paying an additional fare:

  • 15th St/City Hall Station
  • 13th Street Station
  • Drexel 30th Street Station

Fare Pricing Explained

Fares for Regional Rail vary based on trip details including the zone of your start and end stations, the day of the week, time of day, and payment method.

Fare Zones

Each Regional Rail station belongs to a fare zone as shown in the map below. Zones are used to determine distance when calculating fares.

  • Zone 1/Center City: Stations in or near Center City
  • Zone 2: Philadelphia and nearest suburbs
  • Zone 3: Outlying areas of Philadelphia and nearby suburbs
  • Zone 4: Distant suburbs, Philadelphia International Airport, and Delaware
  • NJ: New Jersey

Evening fares are charged Monday through Friday starting at 7 pm and continue through the final service of the day.

Weekend fares are charged all day Saturday, Sunday, and on major SEPTA holidays including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Local trip rates apply when you board and exit from stations outside Center City without passing through a Center City station.

Extended trip rates apply when you board and exit from stations outside Center City but pass through Center City on your trip. This includes trips where you change trains at a Center City station.

Travel rates on the Airport Line from Philadelphia International Airport apply at all times. They are based on the station you go to and your payment method. The same rates apply to reverse trips out to the airport.

Children and Seniors

Senior citizens ages 65 and older ride for free with a valid SEPTA Senior Fare card on Regional Rail as long as their departure and arrival stations are located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

For trains to or from New Jersey or Delaware, half fare is charged for senior travel. The reduced fare may be paid on board the train at the time of travel using cash or major credit card.

Customized Community Transportation Connect Fares

Customized Community Transportation, or CCT, provides paratransit service to individuals with disabilities and senior citizens.

$75.00 | General Public

One-way trip within service region
Group of Three or More: $68.35 per person

Registered paratransit customers also pay $4.25 for a one-way trip within the service region. An additional $0.75 charge may apply if the trip is more than three miles into an adjacent county or if the trip is more than 10 miles. Not more than $5 total will be charged.
